Democrats are attempting to use the global coronavirus outbreak to make nationwide election changes to fit their far-left agenda and give them a political edge. The RNC is fighting this effort to take away every election safeguard.
The RNC launched ProtectTheVote.com, a digital platform to “protect against the Democrats’ assault on our elections.”
- The website includes an interactive map showing where the RNC and Republicans are involved in legal efforts across the country.
- The RNC and Trump campaign also announced efforts to double our legal budget to $20 million to fight frivolous lawsuits.
According to polling, this effort is supported by voters.
- 84% want ballot signatures verified
- 67% oppose ballot harvesting
- 79% prefer to cast ballots in person
- 62% are concerned about fraud in a total mail-in system
- 80% support voter identification
Democrats know they cannot beat President Trump in November, so they are trying to sue their way to victory.
- In the CA-25 special election, Democrats are trying to steal the election and authorizing additional in person voting in the middle of the pandemic.
Democrats’ calls for a national all-mail election would fundamentally change our voting process less than 6 months before the election.
Democrats’ all-mail ballot proposal is nothing but an attempt to install ballot harvesting nationwide.
- Going house to house to collect ballots makes no sense under CDC guidelines.
Democrats’ plan would allow any person to return an unlimited number of absentee ballots, and in some cases get paid to return ballots.
Vote by mail and legalized ballot harvesting would greatly expand opportunities for fraud and weaken confidence in our election process.
The Republican Party supports free and fair elections and are open to being flexible on voting changes in light of the coronavirus, but we must also ensure the integrity of our elections.
- States and voters should be allowed to determine what is safest for them, not the Federal Government.
- We support an expanded absentee ballot program if safeguards like voter ID and signature verification are kept in place.
This pandemic cannot be used as an excuse to throw election integrity out the window.
